Collection services in unincorporated areas are regulated by Boulder County. Due to wildlife concerns, southern Boulder County is divided into two areas; one where food scraps are allowed in compost and the other where it is not. Please refer to the boundaries below for details:
Boundary Area 1: East of Highway 93 and south of Nelson Road
Composting Guidelines: All food and organic material is allowed.
Boundary Area 2: East of Highway 36, but west of 39th Street (or 26th Street) and south of Nelson Road. Crestview Estates, Lake of the Pines HOA and the town of Eldorado Springs up to the Park entrance are also included. No other locales west of Highways 93 and 36 are included in this area.
Composting Guidelines: No food scraps are allowed.
Trash service is sold in 32-gallon units with carts provided by Western available in 32, 64, or 96-gallon sizes. Rates are based on cart size. Trash is collected every week.
Optional trash service: prepaid bags
For those of you who don’t generate enough trash to fill a 32-gallon cart each week, you may purchase a box of 35 specifically marked trash bags that you can put out for collection when needed. The cost of collecting these bags whenever they are set out is included in their purchase price. If you put out no more than two of the bags per month, you can save money compared to subscribing for regularly scheduled service. As with regularly scheduled service, Western will supply you with recycling carts and will collect the recyclables bi-weekly. There is a monthly charge for the recyclables and compostables collection in addition to the cost of the prepaid trash bags.
Set-out time: 7:00 a.m.
Unlimited recyclables collection is included in the cost of the trash service you select. If you have a 32- or 64-gallon recyclables cart and need more capacity, you can get a 96-gallon cart at no extra charge – Call us at 303-444-2037. Recyclables are collected every other week.
96 gallons of compostables and unlimited amounts of yard waste in compostable bags are included in your trash service. Please refer to boundary area guidelines above to determine if food scraps are allowed in your area. If you have a 32- or 64-gallon compostable cart and need more capacity you can get a 96-gallon cart at no extra charge – Call us at 303-444-2037. If you need more than one 96-gallon cart for your compostables, there is a small fee for each additional cart. Compostables are collected every other week.
