ATTENTION CITY OF LOUISVILLE RESIDENTS
Effective September 1, 2019, Western Disposal will no longer be your provider for trash, recycle and compostables collection.
Western is committed to doing our part to facilitate a smooth transition. Your new provider will be delivering carts the weeks of August 5, August 12 and August 19. Approximately 1/3 of the carts will be delivered each week. Please continue to use your Western Disposal compost cart through August 22 and your trash and recycle carts through August 29. Carts will be removed based on the schedule below.
Cart Removal Schedule:
Thursday, August 22: This will be your final compost collection. Please put your trash and compost carts out as usual, but LEAVE YOUR COMPOST CART AT THE CURB. We will remove your compost container on August 22 or 23.
Thursday, August 29: This will be your final trash and recycle collection. Please put your trash and recycle carts out as usual, but LEAVE BOTH CARTS AT THE CURB. We will remove your trash and recycle containers on August 29, 30 or 31st.
We deeply appreciate the opportunity to have served you for the past ten years.
Services Provided Through August 29, 2019.
Trash is collected every week. Trash service is sold in 32-gallon units with carts provided by Western available in 32-, 64-, or 96-gallon sizes. Rates are based on the cart size you choose. If you have subscribed for 96 gallons of trash service, you may get additional carts for a small monthly fee.
Large item collection
Each resident served under the City program is eligible for free pickup of one large item once each calendar quarter on their regular collection day. An example of a large item is a piece of furniture, an appliance, a piece of small equipment, a lawnmower (fuel and oil must be removed), a BBQ grill, or a mattress. Freon-containing appliances are not included as a free item, but we will collect them for a fee. Customers may not “accumulate” free item collection. In other words, you may not have three items collected free-of-charge during the third quarter of a year because you did not have any collected during the first two quarters of the year.
For a large item pickup, call Western’s Customer Service Department at 303-444-2037. If prior arrangements are not made, the items will be left at the curb.
Recyclables are collected every other week alternating with compostables. Unlimited recyclables collection is included in the cost of the trash service you select. You select the cart size that works best for you. You may request more than one cart. Click here for recycling guidelines.
Compostables are collected every other week alternating with recyclables. Compostables service (yard waste and food scraps) is sold in 32-gallon units with carts provided by Western available in 32-, 64- or 96-gallon sizes. Rates are based on the cart size you choose. If you have subscribed for 96 gallons of compost service, you may get additional carts for a small monthly fee. Click here for compost guidelines.
