Order Services:

As with many services available to you, you get to make a choice about who will provide the collection service for your trash and recyclables.  Why should you choose Western Disposal over our competitors?  For three reasons:

  • the service we provide
  • the value we bring to the community
  • our employees

Western is a company that takes pride in what it does and strives to do it better than anyone else.

  • Western Disposal is a local family-owned business that started over 35 years ago with one truck and a vision of what customers would value in a trash collection company:  dependable, on-time service from friendly, well-trained employees.
  • Over the 35 years we have been in business, we have evolved into a company with 120 employees, over 70 vehicles on the road each day and 35,000 residential and commercial customers.  We attribute this success to our commitment to provide the best service to all our customers every day.
  • Even though we are literally all over town every day, we have one of the best safety records in our industry and we have won the “Pewter Stag” award several times from the Hartford Insurance Company for our safety record and our safety programs.
  • If you call Western Disposal, you will be able to easily access a live customer service representative who can answer your questions or help you with your concerns.
  • Monthly, we randomly survey our customers concerning their satisfaction with our service.  We average over a 50% response rate to our surveys with 96% of respondents reporting they are more than satisfied with our service.  We also ask customers for their suggestions to change or enhance our services.  Many of the services we currently provide are the result of suggestions from our customers.

  • As a locally owned company, we spend our money in the community, making Boulder County a more vibrant place to do business.

  • Donating to local charities is one way Western thanks our customers for choosing Western and for making us the largest trash and recyclables hauler in Boulder County.

Western Disposal is committed to supporting the communities we serve.  Each year Western is recognized by the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County as a Culture of Giving Business Partner.  Business Partners donate at least 2% of their pre-tax domestic earnings (or an in-kind equivalent) to charitable organizations in the community.

  • We provide physical locations for:
    • the Boulder County Hazardous Waste Collection Facility
    • the city of Boulder and Boulder County Yard-Waste and Wood Waste Drop- Off Facilities
    • the site for Resource! to operate its used building materials business
  • We play a key role in supporting the Boulder County Recycling Facility by delivering all of our residential recyclables to that facility.
  • Western listens to the desire of our customers to do the right thing environmentally with their discards.  While collecting and hauling trash is what our business was built upon, today the hauling and processing of recyclable materials is a key part of our business.  Recycling is not a fad.  It is a core part of most residents' life-styles, and it is a natural part of most business’ refuse management procedures.  Our job is to make recycling just as easy as discarding materials as trash.

Our decision to use a cart-based collection system for residential recyclables was driven by the fact that studies have shown that the amount of recyclables collected in a community is directly related to the size of the recycling containers available to residents and businesses.  It would have been much cheaper for us to implement a bin-based system for our residential customers, but bin-based systems do not lead to high rates of recycling.  Instead, we chose a more expensive, but much more effective, recycling system – the cart-based system.

We offer several trash collection and recycling options to both our residential and commercial customers.  We also offer consulting services to local businesses, helping them to arrange for the recycling of hard-to-recycle commodities.  For more information about these programs, visit either our Home Services or Business Services sections.

  • Western Disposal works closely with local government to design and implement refuse management programs for the communities we serve.  Examples of the programs we have cooperatively developed with local government are:

    • A pre-paid trash bag service for customers who have so little trash that they do not need regularly scheduled service
    • The Pay-As-You-Throw rate system used for residential customers in the city of Boulder to reward citizens for recycling more and reducing their trash, decreasing  the volume that would be landfilled

Any discussion of Western Disposal would be remiss if it didn’t address the hardworking, dedicated employees of the Company.  The average tenure of our employees is 9 years and over 32% have been with us for over 10 years.  Everyday, these employees are working to make the whole system of customer needs, trucks, collection schedules, and maintenance schedules work together to satisfy you, our customer.  Without our employees, who share the commitment to continuous improvement and no excuses, there would be no Western Disposal.

It is all about service to our customers and involvement with the community.  Let us show you why we have grown to be the largest hauler in the area.  Call us today at 303-444-2037 so we can discuss your solid waste management needs.
